Engelstalige motivatiebrief

Hallo, ik ben van plan om te solliciteren bij een internationaal bedrijf. De vacature is wel opgesteld in het Nederlands maar in de vacature zelf staat wel te lezen dat de bedrijfstaal het engels is. Daarom wil ik dus niet een gewone Nederlandstalige motivatiebrief binnen sturen maar wel een engelse.

Ik heb reeds een eerste ontwerp gemaakt. Wil iemand hier wat feedback op geven?

When I was looking for a challenging job, I saw that the jobsite “VDAB.be” is currently running your ad for dynamic talents in operations and client services department. I am exceptionally interested in the advertisement and therefore I am applying for the vacancy. You will find from reading my enclosed resume that I have all the qualifications you demand of a dynamic talent.

My degree of bachelor business management, option finance and insurance at the university college Ghent, followed by my master degree business administration, option finance and risk management, which I should obtain within this and 3 weeks have given me a very rich mixture of both the theoretical and practical sides of the financial and economical fields.
For example in the last year of the bachelor education we studied how the national and international funds are being transferred. A field in which Euroclear plays a key role. Furthermore I learned about all the types of financial assets and received a good language training during my education. Moreover, I had the opportunity to put the theory into practice during two very enriching work placements.

I would be very contented to be able to work in an expanding company like yours. I trust that you will consider my application favourably and grant me an interview. I am available for an interview at your convenience.

Wat dingen die in mij opkwamen:

Je eerste zin komt niet zo pakkend over (op mij dan toch). Ik zou zeker vermelden dat je op zoek bent naar een challenging job, maar niet per se de jobsite erbij vermelden. Eerder dan zeggen: "when searching for a challenging job, your advertisement of ... immediately struck my attention", of maak er iets grappigs van: "As a student I fill all my free time searching for challenging jobs, which are very scarce these days. Finding a job that meets all my ideals, is like finding a unicorn. When I came across your job advertisement, it immediately struck my attention" Zoiets... Misschien gaat het er wat over :-)

Zinsconstructie dingetje: "I am exceptionally interested in the advertisement and therefore I am applying for the vacancy" >>> "I am exceptionally interested in the advertisement and am therefore applying for the vacancy"

Ik weet niet of je al die opties bij je opleidingen moet bijschrijven. Dat kunnen ze immers ook in je CV lezen, dus eerder iets als: "My bachelor degree of business management at the university college Ghent, followed by my master degree business administration, which I should obtain within 3 weeks from now, have granted me with both a theoretical and practical insight of the financial and economic field/sector."

Overgang naar het volgende vind ik vreemd. Ik zou er een overgangszin tussen zetten of eerder iets schrijven als: "During my university studies I have learned a great deal about the transfering of national and international funds, a field in which Euroclear plays a key role." Aangezien dat hun field is, zou ik hierbij niet alleen vermelden dat je hier over geleerd hebt, maar dat het je ook zeer interesseerde en dat je daarom dat vak gekozen hebt/nog zo'n vakken gekozen hebt/papers daarover geschreven hebt/dat dat terugkwam in je stage/of zoiets.

Work placements: bedoel je een internship of een traineeship? Misschien is work placement in jouw geval echt het beste woord hoor, ik weet het niet.

Ik mis in je brief een beetje jouw persoonlijke vaardigheden en een motivatie. Je zegt dat je daar heel graag wilt werken, maar niet precies waarom. Dat je een goede opleiding hebt die aansluit bij hun functie is duidelijk, nu moet je er met je brief tussenuit springen. Probeer te benadrukken waarom je hun werking juist zo interessant vindt en waarom je jezelf daar in ziet passen (los van je opleiding). Probeer ook meer persoonlijke eigenschappen te vermelden, dat je tijdens team-work je managerial qualities hebt ontdekt ofzo. Dat je graag samenwerkt maar ook zelfstandig kunt werken, dat je met kritiek om kunt, dat je leergierig bent en hard werkt, dat je weet wat je wilt, etc.

Tot slot, weet ik niet of "I would be very contented" een goede verwoording is van wat je wilt zeggen. Afhankelijk van wat je hiervoor nog schrijft zou je kunnen eindigen met: "I am eager to work for an expanding company like (...), which is a great challenge and a logical next step for me. I would love to convince you of my talents/qualities for this job during an interview."

Hopelijk heb je hier wat aan. Succes ermee alleszins.
