Among the many activities of our Specialty Chemicals business area is Delamine B.V, a joint venture with the Japanese TOSOH Corporation. Delamine is one of the world’s largest production companies of a full range of ethylene amines. These are useful aids for the shipbuilding or automotive industry. For road construction, customer products, healthcare or paint and even teabags, toilet paper and diapers. Within this context, your mission in this role is to assume responsibility for the development and implementation of all (new) technologies, products, systems and regulations regarding the Delamine production process and organisation. You are also responsible for the content of the HSE&S part of the management systems like ISO-9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS-18001, VBS, process safety, etc.
Further, you are responsible for the own lab and product quality control, and for the content of the REACH legislation applicable for the products of Delamine including acting as lead registrant for several products.

Technology Manager
The role and its responsibilities
Based at the Delfzijl site, this is a high profile role in which you are responsible for a number of activities:
Strategy
Together with the Delamine Management Team (MT) you define the strategy for the development of Delamine’s proprietary Technology, Market Development, Quality System, REACH and the introduction of new and improved HSE&S systems.
Operational
You execute the strategy regarding RD&I and Product Development. This requires you to secure the proprietary Delamine know how (systems and people) and to gather public know-how. You also define and execute implementation plans for new systems and technologies, and you prepare and execute investment plans.
Further, you manage and administer all Legislation, rules by law and AkzoNobel Standards. You are also responsible for product Quality Control, the content of HSE&S management systems including REACH legislation applicable for Delamine’s products including coordination of lead registrant substances.
Budgets and Cost Control
You are responsible for budgets for Project & Systems, as well as for the preparation, execution and reporting (PP&E-report) of the investment plan. You also act as principal for the definition and execution of all R&D projects.
HSE Introduction and Compliance
At all times you inform, instruct and, where necessary, correct employees about HSE directives, instructions, legal and company guidelines, Management of Change procedures, etc.
Thus you follow and execute HSE directions and instructions, check compliance, and carry out activities that follow from the company’s emergency plan. In addition you adhere to QHSE policy, as stated in the different procedures and the demands of the management system.

To apply for this position you must possess all the following attributes:
• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in chemical engineering;
• Experience in the production of bulk or specialty chemicals / chemicals processing;
• Knowledge of relevant Dutch law (a.o. WABO/ARBO/BRZO/REACH);
• Managerial and HSE experience, knowledge of process safety;
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including fluent written and spoken Dutch and English.
