Responsibility
Bring a determined and strategic approach to a high profile role within a leading global organization
AkzoNobel’s Industrial Chemicals (IC) business unit (BU) produces and markets high purity salt, chlorine, caustic lye, hydrochloric acid, chloromethanes and monochloroacetic acid (MCA). These products are essential to daily life and used in the manufacture of vehicles, glass, performance plastics, pharmaceuticals, feed and foodstuffs, textiles and disinfectants. IC has a global presence with plants and joint ventures in the Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, the USA, China and Japan.
IC is part of the business area Specialty Chemicals.
IC’s Logistics Department is part of the BU Sales Operation Department and interlinks with the business side (Sales and Marketing) and the operational side (plant and site logistics) in order to best serve our wide customer base.
Within this context, your mission in this role is to manage the Logistics Department and set out a long-term strategy in cooperation with Purchasing, Corporate Logistics and the businesses. This strategy will align with BU and AkzoNobel Global Logistics strategies, and establish IC as the preferred supplier for our customers. A key objective is to establish working relationships with external stakeholders such as local governments, customers, and other companies using the same modalities.
Is this a challenge that matches your ambitions as an innovative and strategic project- and change manager? Have you acquired deep knowledge and experience of multiple logistic modalities, especially those applying to the Chemical industry? Can you display strong internal and external stakeholder management skills?
Above all, can you make a real difference within our dynamic, multinational and multicultural business environment?
If you offer all this and more, we invite you to apply for the position of
Logistics Manager SOD
The role and its responsibilities
This role is based in Arnhem, the Netherlands, from where you establish a network in which we can optimize our logistical setup and improve the total cost of ownership for the complete Supply Chain.
This requires you to influence and advise the NGO on Logistic Policy and regulations (e.g. EVO), and to manage the logistical process cycle for all businesses so that we achieve processing and monitoring that optimally serves customer needs in alignment with the integrated supply chain organization.
Thus you set up working relationships with internal stakeholders such as Marketing Directors in order to align the BU Logistics strategy with all relevant business strategies. You also align the Logistics strategy within the Sales and Operations Department, set-up a strategy for managing key suppliers, and apply AkzoNobel’s rigorous Continuous Improvement culture.
Further, you plan and carry out operational review meetings with key Logistics Service Providers, and align all Logistics activities in line with the HSE strategy and legal requirements.
Job requirements / Candidate profile
To apply for this position you must possess all the following attributes:
- Master degree in Business or Logistics;
- At least eight years of relevant work experience in a Logistics or Chemical Process industry;
- Accomplished people manager with effective conflict management skills;
