Responsibility
Drive a high profile transition program for a leading global organization
AkzoNobel creates everyday essentials to make people’s lives more liveable and inspiring. As a leading global paints and coatings company, we supply essential ingredients, essential protection and essential color to industries and consumers worldwide.
Our Global Business Services (GBS) delivers shared services for HR, Finance, IM and NPR. GBS strives to deliver outstanding service at market cost so that our businesses can focus on serving our customers with innovative products. GBS is currently transforming into a new and horizontally aligned organization that will enable end-to-end standardization and take advantage of the 24-workday. This involves a number of transition projects that will run over the coming years.
Next to delivering operational services to the organization, GBS also provides program and project management. Within this context, your mission in this role is to oversee a Finance transition program. As such, the role demands an understanding of how large organizations operate as you liaise with multiple stakeholders, particularly Finance, as well as within GBS. It also demands tight project management in order to prevent business disruption.
Is this a role that matches your profile as a structured professional with experience as a Program or Line Manager in more than one industry type including consulting experience or service delivery experience? Can you manage complex international transition projects involving conflicting interests as well as political and cultural sensitivities? Do you have the skills to proactively create and determine project priorities, structure and scope, involving and uniting all stakeholders around a desired outcome? Above all, can you make a real difference within our dynamic, multinational and multicultural business environment?
If you offer all this and more we invite you to apply for the position of
Program Manager Transformation
The role and its responsibilities
This role is based at the AkzoNobel Center in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, but you will also work from our Arnhem hub if needed and might travel internationally for 10 to 25% of your time.
The role encompasses three core activities:
Transformation Program
You support the Transformation Leader to keep oversight over all initiatives in the program and keep track of the overall business case(s). You liaise with the Finance Leadership Team regarding the scope of work. You help the Leadership Team to define the next steps and align with the other organizations such as GBS, preparing a detailed business case and enabling the decision making process.
Work Transition
You support the Leadership by planning and managing the projects according to the agreed methodology within time and budget. In doing so you align stakeholders in the receiving and sending organizations.
On an ongoing basis you enable the decision-making process in transitions, and you host stage gate review meetings. You also lead the transition team, keep proper documentation and report on project progress to Management.
When necessary you manage escalations and changes, and provide solutions.
Support Methodology
You create and maintain collaboration environments for projects using SharePoint or similar software, and you maintain and improve master transition plans and templates in MS Project.
Further, you document policies, procedures, and accelerators for best practice purposes, and you conduct post-transition reviews and work with stakeholders to identify weaknesses in the methods or plans, involving leadership as you propose and implement improvements.
Finally, you train junior staff in transition methods and tools, and support PPM tool usage.
All of this demands the highest levels of project scheduling and strategic thinking in terms of understanding complex, multi-project environments and quickly diagnosing potential risks. You must also be able to facilitate difficult working sessions with senior leaders and handle positive and negative feedback and inputs.
Further, you will require the skills to communicate with diverse groups of people and experts while displaying calmness and clarity under the pressure of a fast-paced and sometimes chaotic environment. You must therefore bring a positive attitude that stimulates positive responses from others while embodying the highest levels of professional credibility, integrity and the strength to do the right thing.
As such, this is a role for high quality candidates with a proven track record of working in different countries and conducting business in a mixed-language environment. Ideally you have worked within a shared services or BPO organization and have demonstrable experience with more than one industry type including consulting and/or service delivery experience.
