Develop new standards and technologies in order to optimize a sophisticated global filling operation

Within this context, your mission in this role is to develop a portfolio of global filling equipment best practice standards.. This requires you to work with our business units (BUs) across the globe and site teams to define, own and continuously improve the filling line technology building blocks that enable industry leading performance and increase operational cost productivity.

Global Filling Equipment Engineering Manager

The role and its responsibilities
The position is based at Sassenheim, the Netherlands, but you will also spend time at the AkzoNobel Center in Amsterdam, the Netherlands and at our sites across the globe.

As project leader and manager you define the strategy and guide investment plans for BUs and sites. You then establish a deployment program to deliver proven best practice technologies to our local operations. This includes designing and deploying selected breakthrough filling technology solutions for specific DP requirements.
Further, you will be responsible for establishing a filling engineering expertise network, monitoring industry developments and identifying opportunities for optimization via new technologies and equipment for areas such as agile filling (quick change-overs for small batches) and late differentiation. You will also co-design capex proposals with the BUs and site managers to improve capability and capacity.

Where required you will liaise with suppliers of filling equipment to co-create new technologies and develop them to DP specifications. You also partner with Procurement and other AkzoNobel business areas on global preferred supplier agreements and feasibility of new developments.

As such, this is a role for someone with strong analytical, organizational and leadership skills, along with a proven ability to provide clear business direction to matrixed resources in a virtual multi-functional and multinational environment. You will travel globally on a project basis.

Job requirements / Candidate profile
Candidate profile
To apply for this position you must possess the following attributes:

• MSc in Mechanical engineering or Process Technology and at least 15 years of experience in design and deployment for F&P;
• Able to review and understand manufacturing site capabilities, capacity optimization and HSE implications;
• Technical expert with proven success of developing capex proposals (including Financials (NPV) and Project Charter), able to set equipment and financial objectives with suppliers and procurement;
• Strong skills in international project planning, ideally certified for Lean Methodologies and Lean Six Sigma;
• Able to coach site engineers and quality technology leads to optimize their operations and processes, including commissioning trajects;
• Strong communication, influencing and interpersonal skills including fluent written and spoken English.
