Lead Electrical Engineer
The role and its responsibilities
This role is based in Arnhem, the Netherlands.
In the role of lead electrical engineer will be responsible for the conceptual design and cost estimation of industrial electrical installations which might include new electrical systems or modifications in existing ones. Your customers are internal to AkzoNobel or strategic third parties. You typically participate in large projects as lead electrical engineer and/or lead small (sub) projects within your own discipline for plants with complex and hazardous production processes.
You also plan, coordinate and supervise activities performed by contractors, e.g. detailed engineering designers, suppliers of services and equipment, signal non-compliance and take timely actions to resolve the non-compliance issues involving the applicable stakeholders, e.g. sourcing, project manager and senior P&E colleagues.
Further, you document activities performed on electrical engineering work including documentation to customers. You also report on deliverables to a senior electrical engineer in order to support the optimal delivery of quality of design and services.
At all times you aim to ensure that your design is focused in reliability, quality, safety, sustainability and efficiency. You also aim to ensure that the design is compliant with AkzoNobel’s HSE procedures and guidelines, site infrastructure regulatory requirements and internal/international standards.
A further key focus is Continuous Improvement. Thus you identify shortcomings in current engineering design and production processes, systems and procedures, and suggest and implement improvements.
In addition you proactively support our expertise network by promoting efficient communication and information exchange among the project team members.
Candidate profile
To apply for this position you must possess the following attributes:
• MSc or Bachelor degree in Electrical Power Engineering or similar;
• At least six years of engineering experience in an environment such as industrial/ electrical infrastructures, chemical plant projects, or oil and gas;
• Willing and able to travel 30-60 days/year;
• Very adaptable in response to rapidly changing business and/or geographical contexts;
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills including a good level of English.
• Team oriented.
