Within PD People, our Directorate, HR Essential Services as the “HR service hub” to the Office ensures that we receive our pay check every month. Our team handles everything related to salaries and allowances, pensions and social security contributions, manages time and leave, duty travel expenses, issues home loans, manages relations with European and International Schools as well as with the local authorities of the host countries and takes care of anything related to crčches and childcare. Last but not least, our Occupational Health team offers numerous services like preventive medical examinations, ergonomic advice, medical consultations and reintegration support.
We take our colleagues` families and particularly children`s education to heart. Whilst the European Schools in Munich (ESM) and The Hague (ESH) are autonomous organisations, we partner with them closely by participating in meetings, acting on statutory bodies and financing them via EPO contributions. We strive to constructively promote them as the baseline of EPO children`s education, we encourage quality initiatives along with sound financial management measures, and support streamlining initiatives, and many other aspects. Since many employees choose for their children`s education International Schools we are also in a regular partnering relationship with them.
With this broad range of activities, we are now looking for an education expert representative based in The Hague dedicated to engage with the Office`s parents' community and liaise with our partners in the European and International Schools and national authorities.
With us you will:
Externally
- Be the external representative and spokesperson towards the European School in The Hague (ESH), other international schools and towards national educational authorities
- Establish strong relations and strengthen the cooperation with key partners and lead the Office`s engagements with them
- Represent the EPO at the ESH Advisory Board (AB) and partner with other ESH AB members
- Work closely with ESH Director and overall ESH community to further improve the situation for the EPO`s 350+ children
- Provide expert support to the European school on practical matters e.g., resource allocation, measuring financial impact of investments etc.
Internally
- Act as the single point of contact to the parents' community in The Hague
- Effectively engage the community and help understand policy changes and address practical issues
- Act internally as a bridge and intermediary for the parents' community towards the schools and successfully facilitate their dialogue
- Drive projects and improvement initiatives to bring further mutual benefits
- Closely collaborate with Site management in The Hague
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the Office to ensure a harmonised “One Office” approach to providing schooling and education support
- Deputise for the Head of Department
Apply if you have:
- Extensive professional experience, preferably in a similar role, e.g., as a former educator in, or as a consultant to the international / European school / education sector
- Knowledge of the Dutch education system and experience in working with Dutch authorities in the educational sector are distinct advantages
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to counsel, influence, and partner at executive leadership level
- Ability to build and sustain partnerships with a variety of stakeholders and communities
- Confidence in speaking to and engaging with internal and external audiences, with due regard of the Office’s public presence
- Excellent team working and interpersonal skills, including tact and discretion on sensitive matters
- Experience in project and change management are of an advantage
- Dutch language proficiency is preferred
- Diploma of completed studies at master's level or – in exceptional cases – equivalent professional experience
- Generally, an excellent knowledge (at least C1) of one official language (English, French and German) and ability to understand the other two. In exceptional cases, excellent knowledge (at least C1) of one official language and working knowledge (at least B2) of another. In such cases, the willingness to learn the third language and to reach Level B2 within a set time frame would be required.
- Citizenship of one of the member states of the European Patent Organisation
